About Heidi
Heidi Van Horne has spent a lifetime telling stories and documenting and capturing the world around her, with a career both in front of and behind the camera that began over 30 years ago, growing up in Houston.
Starting with 35mm stills on a plastic LeClic camera and filming videos of friends' skate tricks on video 8 camcorders, format has mattered less than intent and vision, and an ability to tell a story and create with what you have on hand were skills she learned early on.
Most known for her work writing about classic cars as a longtime columnist for the Houston Chronicle, as a working actress on television, in major commercials and in films, and as a retro pinup model - the elements of her life often blend into her art, with a complicated relationship with nostalgia being an oft recurring theme.
