About Heidi

Heidi Van Horne has spent a lifetime telling stories and documenting and capturing the world around her, with a career both in front of and behind the camera that began over 30 years ago, growing up in Houston.

Starting with 35mm stills on a plastic LeClic camera and filming videos of friends' skate tricks on video 8 camcorders, format has mattered less than intent and vision, and an ability to tell a story and create with what you have on hand were skills she learned early on.

Most known for her work writing about classic cars as a longtime columnist for the Houston Chronicle, as a working actress on television, in major commercials and in films, and as a retro pinup model - the elements of her life often blend into her art, with a complicated relationship with nostalgia being an oft recurring theme.

Latest Events

2024 has turned out to be another great year for sharing Heidi's art. Her award-winning experimental short film, "broken home movies" appeared at the Austin School of Film "Made in Austin" event, and in April, Heidi's photography was on display for a Solo Gallery Show at the Inspired Minds Gallery south of Austin, with images shot both locally and overseas, featuring fine art portraits, automotive and architectural photography.

This fall, be on the lookout for Heidi at the rescheduled Dazed & Confused 30th Anniversary Reunion events in Austin and adding more studio portraiture to her schedule behind the lens.
